Gratiot County Teachers Federal Credit Union was established in
1962 by a group of teachers who were looking for an alternative for
their financial services. At that time, teachers were paid only
while school was in session which made it difficult for them to
qualify for loans. They needed a financial institution that would
consider their special needs.
Other employer groups soon learned of the benefits that
membership at "Teachers" had to offer. Since then we have
added students in Gratiot County, federal, state, county, and city
employees in Gratiot County, and employees of Alma Wendy's, Alma
Tire, and the Mid-Michigan District Health Department to our field
of membership. Of course, several name changes came with our
membership changes. Our most recent name change was in 1991 when
Gratiot County Federal Credit Union was shortened to GraCo Federal
Credit Union.
In an effort to emphasize the importance of our members in the
development of our credit union, we have adopted the following
mission statement:
GraCo Federal Credit Union is a member owned and controlled
financial organization dedicated to providing its members various
financial services in a safe, convenient, and friendly manner
through responsible leadership.
The history of our credit union has created the foundation to
support our future. We hope that you will join us in building the
financial institution of choice... GraCo Federal Credit Union.
